In the most elevated area of Pahia, an approximately 1.5 m thick bed of gray colored ash and fallout lapilli from pyroclastic layers of the Kyra Nisyros formation is maintained above the Kos plateau tuff, including a 10-15 cm thick interbeded of paleosoil.
At the same stratigraphy position, at the NW shore of Pyrgousa, ash-colored tuffite is found, with abundant sponge needles, with 1m maximum thickness.
